The Essex Young People’s Orchestra (EYPO) is a Symphony Orchestra for young musicians. You will usually need to be aged 11 and upwards and of grade five standard.
Entry into the EYPO is by audition. The audition will allow us to meet you, hear you play a piece you’ve prepared in advance, and give you some sight reading to try. Auditions usually take place during the Autumn and Summer terms, though it is sometimes possible to join mid-year. To apply for an audition, please fill out and return the Ensembles Application form .
This orchestra is often seen as the training ground for the Essex Youth Orchestra and like them the EYPO have a busy schedule throughout the year.
There are residential courses during the Christmas, Easter, and Summer holidays. The orchestra tours to Europe on alternate years. Tour destinations in the past have included Germany, Belgium, and France. The EYPO also plays local concerts three times a year.
For tickets for any of our concerts, please contact the Ensembles Team .
