The Essex Youth Orchestra (EYO) is for the more accomplished young musician. You will usually need to be aged 16 upwards and have achieved grade 8 standard on an orchestral instrument.
Entry into the EYO is by audition. The audition will allow us to meet you, hear you play a piece you’ve prepared in advance, and give you some sight reading to try. Auditions usually take place during the Autumn and Summer terms, though it is sometimes possible to join mid-year. To apply for an audition, please fill out and return the Ensembles Application form .
The EYO has a busy schedule throughout the year with residential courses during the Christmas and Easter holidays, as well as a main summer tour. Tour destinations in the past have included Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Austria, and even China!
The EYO also plays local concerts three times a year.
For tickets for any of our concerts, please contact the Ensembles Team .
