The Essex Training Choir (ETC) is the training choir for the Essex Young Singers.  The ETC sings music from a wide variety of genres, from sacred music to Broadway hits.  Rehearsals are lively with plenty of vocal games and physical activities.

 

Whilst singers are not expected to be able to read music when they join the group they are encouraged to learn to do so and are supported in this by the conductors, who work to develop both aural and musical literacy skills in the singers. Those singers who do not play an instrument are encouraged to start to learn one as this will help to develop skills including musical literacy.

 

The ETC has received many invitations in recent years to sing works from the main choral repertoire with community choirs from Essex. 

 

Janette Ruocco and Simon Warne are the conductors of the ETC and Simon Harvey is the accompanist.
