Essex Young People's Orchestra

The Essex Young People’s Orchestra (EYPO) is a Symphony Orchestra for young musicians from the age of 14, who have achieved a minimum of grade 5 on an orchestral instrument.  Auditions are held throughout the year.  This orchestra is often seen as the training ground for the Essex Youth Orchestra and like the Essex Youth Orchestra the EYPO meets three times a year for residential courses and performs in concerts in prestigious venues throughout Essex.

The Musical Director

Mark Messenger is the Musical Director of the EYPO.  As well as being recognised as a chamber musician and soloist of repute, Mark is also a charismatic conductor and orchestral trainer, having worked with various orchestras throughout the UK and Europe. Mark was awarded a scholarship to The Royal Academy of Music at the age of 16, being appointed violin professor at Goldsmiths College at the age of 18 and going onto make his Wigmore Hall debut at the age of 19. Currently a member of the internationally renowned Bochmann String Quartet, Mark has played in all of London’s major concert halls and has appeared numerous times on TV and radio.
