Essex Dance Theatre Performing Groups create opportunities for over 300 Essex youngsters to experience the creative dance and production process. The integrated groups accommodate the needs of young disabled people within the rehearsals and performance.
From their classes, students audition to be part of the performing group. Once selected they take dance technique classes throughout the week and rehearse on Sundays. They then go on to tour the UK or abroad each year with a repertoire created by guest choreographers.
The outstanding degree of dance training the groups receive has resulted in us being described by the Daily Telegraph as "probably the best youth dance company in the UK today … where the art is in the teaching."
The Senior performing group continues to provide cultural and creative links for international development and the specialist Boys' performing group works with the senior groups during the summer term.
