Essex Youth Service supports young carers and specific targeted needs provision throughout Essex including Raising Attainment of young people’s achievements and supporting them into employment or training.
Our work in communities also includes social action projects through the delivery of the National Citizen Service, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, volunteering and the Prince’s Trust Team community projects.
Our programmes include:
ACE programmes are designed to address some of the barriers that prevent young people maximising learning opportunities and developing their potential within formal education settings. This is a social education programme based on early intervention and targeted primarily at young people in Years 8 and 9. Find out more about the ACE programmes
This programme aims to re-engage young people with opportunities to learn, enhance confidence, increase effective personal skills and create an environment of increased motivation, achievement and development.
The programme is delivered to years 10 and 11 over three days a week from September until the end of June in year 11. Daily hours are similar to that of schools, but set locally by each scheme. Essex County Accreditation Team (ECAT)
ECAT, the Essex County Accreditation Team, provides an assessing and internal quality assurance service to customers throughout Essex.
We are a small, specialised team, fully qualified in the processes of assessment and internal quality

Essex Dance Theatre
If you've ever wanted to learn dance in an informal and friendly environment, Essex Dance Theatre
could be for you. Based in Chelmsford, but operating across the county, the theatre has an open-door policy and works with people regardless of age, gender or experience. Find out more about Essex Dance Theatre
This is a 10 week, two hour programme delivered from one of our youth buses, which will come into school. The team will work with a maximum of eight young people to help them to identify and understand their emotional responses to situations they find challenging. National Citizen Service
If you live in Essex and are or will soon be aged 16 - 17, you can take part in the National Citizen Service.
Along with thousands of other people your age, you can take part in different outdoor activities, develop skills you didn’t even know you had, learn new things, help your local community and best of all make a load of new friends. You can also create a project you really care about and bring it to life in your local area.

Our Plan B programme is targeted at young people who are not in employment, education or training and is designed to enable participants to develop the skills they need for apprenticeships and ultimately sustainable employment.
This dynamic programme is delivered by our team of Targeted Youth Advisors who have a successful track record of supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes. Plan B is a unique blend of developing essential life skills through interactive experiences, gaining valuable work experience and on-going support and tracking for all participants once the programme has concluded. The Prince's Trust
The Prince’s Trust Team (PTT) offers new experiences and challenges for young people aged 16-25 who are currently not in employment, education or training. This is a full-time 12 week programme that supports young people into employment. Find out more about the Prince's Trust
Targeted Youth Advisers (TYA)
The Essex Youth Service Targeted Team supports young people through individual and group work meetings, working with schools and students to identify barriers needed to be overcome in order to move successfully forward and achieve their full potential for the future.
We offer support through a school drop-in service or students being referred on an individual basis. This has been operating very successfully through many schools in Essex, with referrals from teachers to see students once a week for support in helping them overcome barriers. The team provide meaningful work experience opportunities for young people across Essex, whether referred from a school, other youth programme or by parents and individuals requesting it to enhance their CV.
