Essex County Council is supporting apprenticeships in engineering and the energy sectors over the next three years, with subsidies of up to 50% available as well as 100% funded placements.
In addition, we are looking to help 40 young people from a care background into apprenticeship roles with employers in Essex. A wage subsidy of £2,500k is on offer to employers willing to recruit such a candidate.
Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, which lead to nationally recognised qualifications. An apprenticeship is a great way to train new and existing employees to ensure they have the skills your business needs.
Why have an apprentice?
- apprenticeships can help businesses across all sectors by offering a route to exploit new talent
- apprenticeships ensure that your workforce has the practical skills and qualifications your organisation needs now and in the future
- the combination of on and off-job learning ensures apprentices get the skills that work best for your business
- apprentices can bring increased productivity, improved competitiveness and a committed and competent workforce to your business
- apprentices tend to be eager, motivated, flexible and loyal to the company that has invested in them
- apprentices have made an active choice to learn on the job and a commitment to a specific career
