Factsheet for older people
We were asked to produce a factsheet for older people about winter fuel and other benefits that people over retirement age may be entitled to for Older People’s Day and a recent Winter Awareness event for Pensions Day.
Forthcoming changes to Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits
Over the last few months it has been hard to ignore the news around the many changes to Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits, some of which will come into effect in April. These changes are as a result of the budget and the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR).
Essex Benefits Plus has pulled together information about all the potential impacts into one reference document.

Pension toolkit
A free online toolkit has been developed by the Pension Service for people who work or volunteer with vulnerable pensioners.
The toolkit has lots of information to help you help pensioners get extra money every week. It has a 'pick and mix' approach, so you can use as much or as little as you need, including:
a two-minute toolkit for those short of time;
tips on starting a conversation about Pension Credit;
identifying people who may be eligible;
advice on holding events;
information on Pension Credit.
