  Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service

The Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) provides a lead on:

 

 

  • promoting and raising the achievement of pupils from minority ethnic groups, including meeting the needs of pupils learning English as an additional language and traveller pupils.
  • ensuring the principles of equality, inclusion and community cohesion are evident in practice.
  • tackling racism and promoting intercultural awareness through the curriculum and other activities.
  • responding appropriately and effectively to racist incidents.
  • supporting and developing home school and community links.

Equality policy statement template

It is no longer a requirement for schools to develop and publish equality policies and schemes but several schools have found it useful to use a scheme to clarify aims, actions and responsibilities in relation to equality issues. We have produced an equality document template you may find useful.
 

Essex data

The following reports measure data on racist incidents collected from local authority schools in Essex for the academic year 2010/11 and Essex minority ethnic pupil achievement for the academic year 2011.
