If you are a school governor or are thinking of becoming one, you will need the right information, in the right format, at the right time.

Teachers TV relaunched as SchoolsWorld

Teachers TV has relaunched as SchoolsWorld and is broadcasting the entire 3,500 videos from Teachers TV. It plans further additions for teachers, pupils, governors and parents.

 

 

Communications meetings

 

These termly meetings for clerks and governors are a great opportunity to catch up with the latest news and network with other governors and clerks in your area.
 
The two-hour sessions take place in venues around the county with a choice of daytime and evening meetings. All governors and clerks are welcome to attend.
 
The themes for the spring term communications meetings for governors and clerks were The Equality Act 2010 and accessibility.
 
Dates for the summer term 2012 communication meetings are:

 

  • Monday, 21 May, 7pm, Colchester Centre (now Alderman Blaxill School), Colchester, CO2 9DQ
  • Thursday, 24 May, 7pm, Great Baddow Centre, Duffield Road, Great Baddow, CM2 9SW
  • Tuesday, 29 May, 10am, Harlow Centre, Abbotsweld, Partridge Road, Harlow, CM18 6TE
  • Wednesday, 30 May, 7pm, Wickford Centre, Alderney Gardens, Wickford, SS11 7JZ.
  • New arrangements for managing teacher performance and capability come into force in 1 September 2012, so the theme for the summer term communications meetings is Performance Management and Capability Procedures.

    Essex Schools Infolink

     

    Infolink provides daily updates and bulletins for schools. 

     

    Gateways

     

    This termly newsletter for Essex governors and clerks contains short articles of current or local interest, each signposting the reader to further information. Copies are sent to all schools for distribution to their governors and clerk. 

    E-bulletin alerts 

    Governor Services provides a monthly electronic bulletin service to Essex governors and clerks. This bulletin provides information in an accessible and timely way, to support governors and clerks with their work. It also contains links to further information. This is an optional service and governors and clerks who prefer not to receive information in this way can opt out.

    Complaints policy

    Essex County Council has produced a school complaints toolkit which includes a model complaints policy.
     

    Governor resource collection

    The governor resource collection contains a wide range of training resources which can be borrowed free of charge to support you in your role.
     
    Borrowing an item couldn't be simpler. When you have made your choice, note the code number, phone Governor Services on 01245 436210 and ask to reserve the relevant title. You will be asked for your name and the school where you would like to pick the item(s) up from.
     
    There is no charge to Essex governors and you do not need to be a member of the public library. Loans are for six weeks.  Alternatively, complete an online booking form and submit it for our attention.
