The Essex Compact with its codes of practice sets out principles and rules for a fair and fruitful relationship between the voluntary and statutory sectors in Essex. It contains commitments for both sectors and aims to provide common standards of good practice that can prevent unnecessary conflicts and misunderstandings.
The Essex Compact recognises the contribution voluntary and community groups make. It acknowledges their independence and the moves in central government, and wider society, towards empowering the voluntary sector and communities.
