This policy explains how Essex County Council Trading Standards will approach Financial Investigations.


Underage Sales for Test Purchasing Policy

This policy applies to the test purchase of any age restricted product including alcohol, tobacco, solvents, spray paints, knives and fireworks. It sets out the approach to be adopted when dealing with retailers of age restricted products and addresses the application of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) to test purchasing operations.


Prosecution Policy

The decision to prosecute an individual is a serious step.  Fair and effective enforcement is essential to the maintenance of law and order.  We recognise that a prosecution has serious implications for all involved and have developed this policy so that we can make fair and consistent decisions in all cases.


Business advice and charging policy

This policy specifies how we will decide whether a service, facility or activity that is supplied to a business will be subject to charge or provided at no cost. The policy also specifies what those charges will be.

No Cold Calling Zones

No Cold Calling Zones (NCCZs) have been introduced by local authority/police partnerships in various areas across the country as a means of reducing incidents of doorstep crime.


Weight Restriction Order Enforcement Policy

This policy explains how Essex Trading Standards will approach enforcement of Weight Restriction Orders and forms part of and should be read in conjunction with the Essex County Council Trading Standards Enforcement Policy.
