A charge is made for consideration of any application for scaffolding or other structures licence, irrespective of the outcome. A charge is also made for any site inspections relating to the application, irrespective of the outcome.

In the event that more than one site inspection is deemed necessary, there will be an additional £21 charged for each visit.
To apply for permission to place scaffolding or other structures on the highway you can
apply online or
download an application form and send it, along with a cheque made payable to Essex County Council, directly to the Highways office as detailed on the form (addresses are included on the form).
Please note: all above charges are subject to an annual increase.
