An outstanding learning provider
In June 2009 Ofsted graded Adult Community Learning Essex 'outstanding' in the following:
- leadership and management;
- overall effectiveness of the service provided.
Inspectors also commented that lessons were lively, interesting and engaged learners well.
matrix Excellence Award

In November 2009 Adult Community Learning Essex achieved, for the second time, the prestigious matrix Excellence award. This is in recognition of the high standard of information, advice and guidance we provide to customers across the county. Essex County Council is the only authority in the UK to receive this award twice.
Beacon status
In March 2010 Adult Community Learning Essex was awarded Beacon status by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS). This is in recognition of our outstanding service and professionalism. This prestigious award puts Adult Community Learning Essex in the top 8% of providers, from private training establishments to further education colleges.
Dedicated to Brilliant Teaching
In November 2010 Adult Community Learning gained The Institute for Learning (IfL) Dedicated to Brilliant Teaching Award.
