  SEN application process

31 August 2011

Year 6 to 7 transfer

If your child is in Year 6 with a full statement of special educational needs the process for selecting a secondary school is linked to your child’s statement. A statement review takes place during Year 6 and in consultation with the Special Educational Needs and Children with Additional Needs (SENCAN) team, schools and parents; a school will be named in the statement. You should not make an application for a secondary school place unless you wish your child to attend a selective (grammar) school.

If your child is in Year 6 and on School Action or School Action Plus, or in the process of being considered for a statement, you should apply in the normal way. However, please email admissions@essex.gov.uk to ensure we are fully aware of your situation. See Primary and secondary education in Essex.
