Pupils discipline and exclusion

School discipline

Schools work best for everyone when pupils are well-behaved. Teachers are happy, pupils learn more, you can feel safe and have fun with your friends.

When pupils fool around, misbehave, or bully others, school stops being a safe, happy place. Misbehaviour has to be dealt with, so if you do, you will be punished. If you refuse to improve your behaviour you could face exclusion. At first this might be for a day or a few days, but if you refuse to behave or do something extremely serious you may be excluded forever. This doesn’t mean you get out of doing schoolwork, it means you can no longer go to school with your friends.

Below are some of the reasons for permanent exclusion:

  • Physical assault against a pupil or adult
  • Verbal abuse/ threatening behaviour against a pupil or adult
  • Bullying
  • Racist abuse
  • Sexual misconduct
  • Drug and alcohol related
  • Damage
  • Theft
  • Persistent disruptive behaviour
  • Other

Permanent exclusion

If you have been permanently excluded from your school they will notify Essex County Council and from day 6 of your exclusion we will provide you with tuition. We will contact you and your parents to arrange a way to continue your education.
