  Woodlands School, Basildon

29 April 2013

Woodlands school

Woodlands School is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. The site and facilities do not currently meet the needs of staff, pupils or individuals with disabilities.

The site for the new building is located within the existing school grounds and will be constructed by the edge of the playing fields. Following completion, the existing buildings will be demolished to allow landscaping works to be completed.

The design of the building has paid particular attention to the school’s performing arts specialism, its commitment to sport and community use.

The project achieved financial close in March 2012 and enabling works began in April with the construction of the access road from Nether Mayne. Construction of the main building began in earnest following the ground breaking ceremony on the 17 July. The new school will be ready for occupation in January 2014.
