Essex County Council has a responsibility to the residents of Essex to manage the resources and environment of the county in a sustainable and environmentally conscious manner. In order to fulfil this role, we have embarked on a series of
programmes and initiatives that are designed to guide long-term environmental strategy within the county.
Essex County Council works with a range of partners, including the
Energy Saving Trust and
Essex Wildlife Trust to deliver practical initiatives on topics ranging from
personal energy efficiency to
biodiversity and
waste management.
Essex County Council has also agreed to meet a number of
environmental commitments, in order to improve the efficient use of resources within the county. These commitments are outlined in the
Local Area Agreement, a three year plan outlining the council’s overall strategy for the future of Essex.
All of the Essex County Council’s policies and initiatives relating to environmental strategy form part of our commitment to
sustainability.
