Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) provides an outline of the ways in which the public can get involved in both the planning application process and key stages in the preparation of the Mineral Development and Waste Development Documents within Essex. The SCI was adopted by Essex County Council on 13 October 2009.

A copy of the Statement of Community Involvement is available to download for free from this website. Additionally, it is available in a variety of other formats. 

  • A copy can be viewed at County Hall during office hours, Monday to Friday. To arrange an appointment, call the Duty Officer on 01245 435555.
  • A copy can be viewed at District or Borough Offices during office hours, Monday to Friday.
  • A copy can be viewed at local libraries, during their office hours.
  • You can contact the Minerals and Waste Planning team to obtain a hard copy of the document. Hard copies are available at a cost of £10 per copy. ECC can also send you a copy of the document on CD, free of charge. A copy of the document can be emailed to you, also free of charge. 
  • The Statement of Community Involvement can be supplied in a number of alternative formats, such as large print, Braille, audio tape or disc. Contact the Minerals and Waste Planning team for more information. The SCI can also be translated into other languages.
