Planning applications can be made electronically through online portals.

For all types of planning application with the exception of mineral extraction, applications can be submitted online through the UK Government’s Planning Portal. The portal enables customers to submit planning applications, attach all necessary documentation as well as calculating and paying fees.

The portal contains a wealth of information about planning permission, allows people to search for planning applications and communicates the latest news relating to planning applications.

At present the UK Government Planning Portal does not accept planning applications for mineral sites. Applications for theses can be submitted via the Essex County Council Planning Portal. You can also download application forms and guidance notes.
