The Spatial Planning team works very closely with district and borough councils to ensure that their local development plans are in line with Essex County Council priorities and the delivery of services. For example, where local councils are planning new housing developments, we work with them to ensure that there is sufficient infrastructure in place to cope with the increased demand that the new development will bring. This can include road building and improvement schemes, schools, libraries, waste management (ensuring there are sufficient sites for processing and recycling) and community transport provision.
