The following major travel improvements are currently underway, due to begin in the near future, or are proposed for development.
Travel Improvements are significant transportation improvement opportunities that either provide a solution to an existing problem or are developed to meet future transportation needs. In each case, information is provided to the public and interested parties on the scope and timescale of each project, its purpose, and any opportunities to respond or object to the scheme or elements of it.
These are also publicised locally, in order to ensure that all affected residents and businesses have an opportunity to make their voices heard during the consultation process.

Witham Station Access Improvements, providing a new overbridge between the car park and the platforms.
New junction on the A12 near Colchester to unlock development areas.
Scheme to regenerate Basildon�s industrial areas.
A range of interconnected measures to improve the Basildon to Hadleigh route.
Improvements to the main road link between Harlow and the M11.
Creation of a footbridge over the railway line near Braintree Freeport station.
The development of Colchester�s first purpose-built Park and Ride.
Enhancements to Moulsham Street between Parkway and New Writtle Street.
Improvement scheme for this major junction on the A13 / A130.
Highway building scheme on Canvey Island to improve access and assist growth and regeneration.
Bus-based rapid transport system for the Essex Thames Gateway sub region.
