Epping Forest Transport Strategy

Essex County Council, the City of London and the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Waltham Forest are working in partnership to improve the transport network in and around Epping Forest.

The Transport Strategy proposals are available to view online and progress on the strategy is being made in the following areas:

Cattle grids

Following the successful outcome of the public inquiry into the four proposed cattle grids and by-pass areas we will now work towards getting the grids installed in the autumn. The decision letter and the inspector’s report can be viewed online.

Speed limits and road closures

The speed limit changes published last year have been successfully installed, as has the prohibition of motor vehicles from Lodge Road and Queen’s Green. The proposed prohibition of motor vehicles on Fairmead Road is subject to on-going discussions to address the concerns raised following the consultation in January.

Get on the bus to the heart of Epping Forest

The fully accessible shuttle bus service to the heart of the Forest, which ran on Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the summer of 2011 was a great success. We anticipate the service will operate again this year and we will publish the details as soon as they are available.
