Why you can’t take or buy items which have been brought to the centre

Once an item is deposited at a recycling centre, it becomes the centre's property. Members of the public cannot take an item from a centre because the item is not considered fit for use.

‘Re-users’ pay for the right to take away items brought to the centre by members of the public. Money generated from this helps to fund the cost of running the centres.

Visitors can exchange items between themselves as long as the item has not been put into a container or a site storage area (in the case of larger items).
