Adoption UK, a national support group, help us run local support groups for adoptive parents around the county. Adoption UK is a really important source of information and help for adoptive families.
Being an adoptive parent is hard work and can be a lonely job. We believe it is important for adopters to keep in touch with other adoptive parents. Sometimes it can be difficult to know if a child's behaviour is due to the adoption or is just normal for any child of that particular age and stage of development. It can be really helpful to talk about any concerns with other adopters who have been there and seen that. And of course you are also a valuable and experienced resource for other adoptive parent.

Further training for adopters
Adopters parent some of the most vulnerable children in our society. Because of their early expriences of trauma, loss and perhaps multiple changes of placement, adopted children need sensitive and skilful parenting. Understanding how adopted children can best be helped is central to all the training we offer.
After approval, the journey continues and the aim of our post- approval training programme is to provide you with further learning and development opportunities.
There are a range of courses that will appeal to adopters at all stages, some topics may be new and some will broaden your experience or inspire new thinking and skills.
