Being able to go to the local parks
Parents told us about some of the barriers and challenges of going to the local park with their child with disabilities.
FACE were instrumental in seeking the parents’ views of what could be changed to make it easier for their children to play in their local parks. Based on all the feedback, FACE wrote a comprehensive report that was circulated to all the local District Councils.
FACE then worked in partnership with the District Councils to plan improvements. Some of the Aiming High for Disabled Children’s funding was used to development a number of local parks to help ensure that children and young people with disabilities can play alongside their brothers and sisters and their friends.
