Personal budgets

Once all necessary assessments have been carried out, your Practitioner will look at the best way to support you. Our guide to self-directed support will give you more information on this.

The practitioner will try to meet your needs using services such as advice, support and guidance, reablement or technology.

If they are unable to meet your needs in any other way, they will look at offering you a personal budget. This is a sum of money you can use to purchase the support or services you need.

The amount of the personal budget will be calculated based on the information given during the assessment process.

You may also be advised to look into additional funding, which can be added to your personal budget.

You will be told how much your budget will be as soon as possible in the procedure, so that you can start to plan how you might want to spend the money to meet your needs. This will be called a Support Plan.
