If you feel that you can no longer manage in your own home and are considering becoming a permanent resident in a care home, you must ensure you have looked at all the other options first.
If you have not spoken to Essex County Council, you need to get in touch with Adult Social Care about whether or not services are available to you. If this is the case, they can arrange for the necessary
assessments to be carried out.
Before making any decision about our homes, see our
Help in the Home section and consider whether, with the right advice and support, you would be able to manage in your home.
If you still wish to look at permanent residential care, you may like to contact the
Relatives and Residents Association (Essex). They are an independent voluntary organisation affiliated to the national Association. They offer advice, information and support to older people, their families and friends on matters relating to residential care and the alternatives to it.
