If you need a break from home, or the person who cares for you is taking a break and will be unable to continue their caring role for a short time, a respite break can be of use.
This is where additional care arrangements are made for a person who is unable to take care of themselves in their own home. They can either spend some time in a residential care home, or additional paid care can be provided within their own home, to give them and their carers a break.
If you have not spoken to Essex County Council, you need to get in touch with Adult Social Care on 0845 603 7630 to find out whether services are available to you. If this is the case, they can arrange for the necessary
assessments to be carried out.
If a partner, friend or relative also cares for you, there may be an option for them to apply for a short term sitting service. This is where someone will sit with you and keep you company for a short time while the person who cares for you has some time to themselves. This can be paid for under a
carer service, but must not include any personal care.
