If you're ready to proceed you will be asked to confirm this in writing and give us permission to carry out safeguarding checks (including DBS checks), and collect written references. You’ll need a medical carried out by your doctor, which you'll have to pay for yourself.
You’ll be asked to complete a workbook, which we can help you with, during workshops. You'll also have further opportunities to meet social workers and attend training.
The process requires a lot of form filling and plenty of thinking about how you’ll be able to provide a loving home for a child who may have experienced trauma or neglect.
Based on the information gathered during this stage, the agency will make a decision on whether you can continue to stage 2, which you can start straight away or defer while you do further training.
