Individual: Renew or amend your badge

When your Blue Badge is 10 weeks from expiring we will send you a renewal letter.

You can’t renew it any earlier than 10 weeks before the expiry date.

If you have received your renewal letter, you can renew your badge online.

You will need to provide:

If you have automatic entitlement then you will need to provide:

  • Higher Rate component of Disability Living Allowance: You must provide a photocopy of your official award letter, dated within the past two years and stating the end date of the award.
  • Personal Independence Payment: A full copy of your award letter dated in the past 2 years that states the end date of your award and includes the ‘moving around’ descriptor and points awarded.  

If you received the Higher Rate component of Disability Living Allowance when your current badge was awarded and you are now in receipt of a Personal Independent Payment, your automatic entitlement is dependent on the ‘moving around’ points awarded.  A score of 8 points or more is needed for ‘moving around’.  Points awarded for ‘planning a journey’ do not count towards your automatic entitlement.  

If your badge is due to expire within the next 10 weeks and you haven’t received your renewal letter, contact 0345 603 7630 and select option 2.

Appeal the Blue Badge decision

If your badge renewal application is rejected, you can appeal within 6 months of the rejection letter.

If your appeal is unsuccessful, you can’t re-apply for 12 months unless there is a significant change in your mobility.

Change your application information

If your name or address changes then you need to send a letter detailing the change and photocopies of your evidence.

  • Name change: Send photocopied proof of ID in your new name
  • Address change: Send any official document sent to your new address such as a photocopy of a Council Tax or utility bill

Please note: Blue Badges are issued to the applicant. You don’t need to tell us of any changes to your vehicle.

All replacement badges cost £10. We will contact you after receiving your letter to take payment.
