You are a carer if you care for a partner, relative or friend who is in need of help because they are ill, frail or have a disability. This care is provided without payment (excluding Carers Allowance) or a contract. Below you can find information for:

Adult carers

Carers over 18 years of age who care for someone who is also over 18 years of age. 

Young carers 

Carers who are under 18 years of age. 

Parent carers

Carers who are over 18 years of age and care for a child under 18 years of age.
