Adults and children who have significant difficulties accessing print are able to have a Library Access Card giving free access to all audio and DVD collections.

For carers
Whether you want to relax, learn something new or if you need some information, Essex Libraries has a
range of services to support you and those you care for.
For visually impaired people
The library service offers:
- reading choices in ordinary print, large print, audiobooks (CD and tape), ebooks and eaudio. Clearvision (books in Braille) are also available for children
- DVDs, many with subtitles and audio description options
- Audio version of the booklet for new library members, outlining available services.
For learning disabled people
The library service offers:
- books in Easy Read format (pictures, symbols and clear language) for learning disabled people to enjoy
- books about good communication to help those supporting learning disabled people.
For people with mental health issues
If you are feeling anxious, depressed or stressed, books can help. Books in our Get Your Life Back collections have been recommended by experts in mental health and can be a useful place to start. See the Get Your Life Back section on the
Health and Wellbeing page for more information.
