Library membership is free and open to all. It’s free to borrow books but we do make small charges for items such as DVDs, overdue items and for services such as photocopying, printing and faxing.
You can borrow up to 14 items at any one time.

When you join the library online, you will be able to search the library catalogue immediately and reserve items that can be sent to any library in Essex.
To take advantage of the full range of library services (borrow items, use the library computers, use the online resources) just take your registration number to your local library and exchange it for a library membership card.
Update your details
You can update your contact details including name, address, telephone number and email by logging into your account on the
Essex Libraries catalogue.
To update your name or address simply select My Account/ Renewals from the top navigation on the page. You will be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN.
Once you have logged in, you can update your account details by selecting My Personal information under the My Account heading.
To update your name and address details select Change data.
