While computers are an integral part of life for some people others are still unfamiliar with them or struggle to understand them. If you are comfortable using computers perhaps you could help others get to grips with using them.
We currently need volunteers for computer support, computer training, library work clubs and the Go-on initiative.
Computer support volunteers
Computer support volunteers offer practical support to library visitors who require help in booking and using a library computer for various reasons - they might wish to find information, upload a photograph, write a document, use an online service or set up an email account. Computer support volunteers are needed at the following libraries:

Computer training volunteers provide learning support to small groups of people undertaking basic training in using computers and the internet, using the Go-ON online course modules. Computer training volunteers are needed at the following libraries:
Library work clubs
There is a wide range of websites to help job seekers find jobs, develop their CVs and get interview advice. However, not all job seekers have the IT skills to make the most of these. As a library work club volunteer you would help job seekers access and use library IT, and guide them to other support. Volunteers are needed at the following libraries:
Go-on
We are also looking for volunteers to assist in the delivery of Go-on, the national UK Online initiative offered in a number of libraries. Your role would be to support small groups of learners and help them take their first steps online, guiding them successfully through the basic modules.
