  Children

1 May 2013

There are eight good reasons why every child should own a library card and have the opportunity to visit the library regularly.

For children who are just learning to read, we can give you ideas about the different types of books your child will enjoy. We also support the homework and information needs of children of all ages

Books can also be a great way to help children understand new or difficult experiences; see our parent information page for information on a wide range of subjects such as bereavement and starting school.

Summer Reading Challenge

During the summer holidays children can join the Summer Reading Challenge. It doesn’t matter if they are not yet reading independently; sharing a story is a great way to take part. An activity such as this can ensure children get into the habit of reading and become lifelong readers.
