Advice for Residents in Severe Weather

1 May 2012

Essex County Council is advising residents to travel with extra caution as heavy rainfall is causing a number of problems on the county’s roads.

Essex Highways are currently dealing with a number of issues involving flooding and surface water across the county this morning, and will continue to monitor conditions throughout today.

Essex residents are advised to travel with extra caution at this time, taking particular care when driving along minor roads. Residents can check for the latest traffic updates by listening to local radio, or by following the Essex Travel Twitter – www.twitter.com/Essex_Travel

County Councillor Tracey Chapman, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation said: “We have just experienced the wettest April since records began, and with the heavy rainfall set to continue I advise residents to travel carefully at this time. Our highways engineers are doing everything they can to keep traffic moving and will take action to deal with any problems caused by the severe weather.”
