Essex County Council is encouraging potential volunteers and organisations that need volunteers to get involved with Volunteers’ Week (1 – 7 June) and sign-up to ‘Good for Essex’ at www.goodforessex.org.
Working in partnership with the voluntary sector, Essex County Council developed www.goodforessex.org to showcase the huge variety of voluntary opportunities on offer throughout the county.
Over 320 volunteers have already signed up and there are over 100 organisations promoting opportunities ranging from nature conservation and guided tours to youth project work and animal protection. There are new opportunities being registered everyday and there is something for everyone.
Volunteering can fit into busy lifestyles and www.goodforessex.org has a number of opportunities to choose from which are simply and quickly matched to interests and skills.
Councillor Peter Martin, Leader of Essex County Council said: “We have had a great response to our Good for Essex campaign and I know that Essex is full of talented, knowledgeable and enthusiastic people who want to really make a difference in their local communities.
"I would encourage all residents to visit www.goodforessex.org and sign up to volunteer. There is a huge variety of opportunities that suit all lifestyles and locations – this is your chance to get involved in your local area.”
