Families are set to benefit after almost £150,000 was pledged to transform Chelmsford Library.
Arts Council England has allocated £145,586 to make Library First a reality – a new project which will see the library’s children’s area overhauled to introduce a wider range of services.
Plans are yet to be finalised, but among the ideas being proposed are a performance area, a ‘gadget deck’ for youngsters and teenagers and a one-to-one room for parents to receive advice and support.
The library will also be encouraging children and young people to put forward their views and suggestions to make Library First an inspiring place for children and their families.
Residents can expect to see the improvements in action when the project completes within the 2017/18 financial year, subject to a procurement process.
