The Colne Bank Avenue Widening scheme in Colchester will begin its final phase in the New Year.
Through investigation work, engineers found issues which have complicated plans for the scheme. This would have necessitated having reduced lanes on the road throughout December. However Essex County Council has recognised the need to enable residents and visitors to use the road fully during the busy festive month and so we will restart the works on 3 January 2017 when only one lane will be available in each direction.
The widening scheme, which is anticipated to be completed by May 2017, is designed to increase the carriageway width to two lanes in each direction between Colne Bank roundabout and The Albert roundabout, a key “pinch-point” on the existing network.
