New government funding to help revitalise seaside areas has been welcomed by Essex County Council Leader, David Finch.
The £90million government funding available through the Government’s ‘Coastal Communities Fund’ will give organisations the chance to apply for grants of between £50,000 and £4 million for projects that will help boost tourism, create jobs and provide training for local people.
Cllr David Finch, Leader of Essex County Council said: “The Essex coast attracts thousands of visitors every year, but as with other parts of the UK our seaside towns often don’t see the level of national funding that more urban areas benefit from.
“This additional funding aims to help to revitalize and create economic growth in these areas, and also I think offers a real opportunity for Essex to show its entrepreneurial spirit and benefit from this funding.”
The closing date for applications is the 30 June 2016.
