Digital business knowhow on offer through Essex libraries
10 October 2016
Libraries across Essex will be offering free digital training courses aimed specifically at small businesses and start-ups.
Launched by Google, the online ‘Google Digital Garage’ programme will provide a host of digital skills around boosting online presence and successful online marketing.
The course will be supported in ten libraries across Essex - Rayleigh, Rochford, Harwich, Basildon, Laindon, Pitsea, Canvey, Wickford, Chelmsford, and Loughton.
Cllr Anne Brown, Essex County Council Cabinet Member responsible for Libraries said: “We provide a range of different services and activities across our libraries, and it’s fair to say that people now use the facilities for far more than simply borrowing books. This is another great example of how Essex libraries play an integral part as community hubs.
“Through this fantastic course, we can continue to support people as they undertake the modules, while gaining the skills and insight they need to start or build their businesses.”
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council Cabinet Member responsible for Economic Growth added: “The majority of small businesses recognise the importance of having a website, but Google estimate that less than 30 per cent of SMEs have an effective web presence.
“Through this course, businesses or those thinking of starting a business can access a range of tutorials specifically designed to help businesses access new customers and build their online presence.”
