Essex Libraries Celebrate National Libraries Day

25 January 2012

Saturday 4 February is National Libraries Day and Essex County Council is marking the day by encouraging members of the public to join the library and discover the many resources available to its members.

At nearly 25% of the population, Essex’s active membership of the library is already the highest in the country, however, that still leaves a large number of people who have yet to discover what the library has to offer.

In the week up to National Libraries Day, Essex Libraries will be premiering their latest video about the benefits of membership on their You Tube Channel at www.youtube.com/Essexlibraries.

The library service will also be using its Twitter and Facebook channels to reveal two good reasons each day to join the library, building up to the full list of ten reasons on Saturday 4 February.

County Councillor Jeremy Lucas, Cabinet Member for Environment and Culture said: “If you haven’t stepped foot in a library for some time, you may well be surprised by the fantastic range of services available. There are many benefits to membership and I’d encourage anyone who isn’t a member to drop in and find out what they’ve been missing.”
