Essex Police and Emergency Services response to raised 'critical' threat level

24 May 2017

Following the decision to raise the national level of threat from terrorist attack to ‘critical’, Essex police and partners have begun to implement local plans in response.

In practice, this means that armed Essex police officers will be patrolling major infrastructure sites such as ports and airports.

It is important to stress that there is no specific intelligence or evidence which relates to Essex. The increased police presence is part of a detailed response plan designed to keep the county safe.

As ever, residents are the eyes and ears of the police and the emergency services.

You can report anything suspicious to the police’s anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789321 or in an emergency, dial 999.
