In anticipation of the Hadleigh Mountain Bike events, Hadleigh Castle Rotary Club, supported by Essex County Council, have organised an all day event at Hadleigh Old Fire Station on Saturday 4th August, the weekend before the Olympic Mountain Bike event.

Essex County Councillor Stephen Castle, Cabinet Member for Education, Life Long Learning and the 2012 Games, commented: “What a wonderful way to celebrate the arrival of the Games. This is a very exciting event that will be enjoyed by everyone. I am thrilled the residents of Hadleigh will be celebrating the arrival of the Games and hope that the event is well attended and enjoyed.”

The afternoon celebration is from 11am until 5pm where there will be a variation of activities and entertainment including a bouncy castle, several displays and demos, a brass band and an assortment of stalls. Children can enter for free to this event which supports local charities and community groups. After the event has finished, celebrations continue into the evening from 7pm until 11.30pm where food and drink will be available and a live band will entertain guests.

Brian Hickey, caretaker at Hadleigh Old Fire Station and organiser of the event comments: “I am delighted with the response we have had so far for our Super Saturday. So many people have come forward to help and show support. It is going to be a great day of celebrations and I am really looking forward to the excitement”
