Sky Ropes at Great Notley Country Park celebrated its first birthday today (Wednesday 27 July) by unveiling the name of their new squirrel mascot as Cyril the Squirrel. Cyril was the clear winner, as voted for by the public at various events across the county and via social media.
Cyril the Squirrel was joined at the first birthday celebrations by Chairman of Essex County Council Cllr John Aldridge, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste Cllr Simon Walsh, Braintree District Council Cabinet Member for Place, Cllr Wendy Schmitt, Tim Dixon, Head of Country Parks at Essex County Council, Pete Cook, Director of Delivery Transition at Essex County Council and members of the Sky Ropes team.
After sharing cake and singing happy birthday, guests at the birthday party posed for photographs and met some of the visitors enjoying the Sky Ropes courses during the summer holidays.
The two courses – Sky Ropes at over nine metres high and Sky Ropes Junior for the smaller adventurers – are open all year round and offer great, safe family fun for all ages, shapes and sizes. Visitors can book their Sky Ropes experience online at visitparks.co.uk/sky-ropes
or by calling 0345 603 7624. You can also find Sky Ropes on Facebook at facebook.com/skyropes.
Cyril the Squirrel will be making his next public appearance at the Livewell Summer event at Freeport Braintree on Monday 1 August, a free event organised by Braintree District Council in association with Freeport which will offer the public the opportunity to try a range of healthy activities including tennis, kids craft activities, chair-based exercises, a guided walk and exercise taster sessions.
