Investigation work to begin on A133 Ipswich Road Scheme

14 July 2016

Drivers are being warned of lane closures to accommodate investigation works for the A133 Ipswich Road Scheme.

The scheme's objective is to provide increased traffic flow to the east of Colchester.

The proposed ground investigation work will entail deep boreholes and exploratory trenches within the carriageway and adjacent footways. It will be undertaken along Cowdray Avenue, Ipswich Road Roundabout, St. Andrew’s Avenue and Harwich Road Roundabout.

Single lane closures will be required along sections of the above roads.

The closures will be undertaken on an individual, phased approach during the duration of the works.  Single lane closures on Ipswich Road Roundabout itself will be limited to weekends only.

The ground investigation works are scheduled to start on 30 July with overall completion of the works expected by around 18 August.  Work will take place between the hours of 7am and 11pm in order to minimise the duration of the works.
