A new cycleway to and from Laindon railway station is being created, thanks to Essex County Council.
Work is due to start soon on a scheme to upgrade existing pavements to become shared footway/cycleways between Laindon High Road and Station Approach.
The scheme also includes upgrading existing crossing points for pedestrians and cyclists, improving lighting, signage and widening where needed, to benefit both cyclists using the route to and from Laindon railway station.
The work is expected to take three months.
Councillor Eddie Johnson, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Highways Delivery said: “Improving links from Laindon Centre to the station gives people greater access to the wider cycle network whether it be for leisure or business, helping growth and regeneration in the area through a connected route for those who choose to cycle.”
The scheme is part of the Basildon Integrated Transport Package of improvements funded by Essex County Council and the South Essex Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) Local Growth Fund.
