Stephen Jordan, a Senior Social Worker from Essex County Council, is cycling from Southend to Cologne in Germany to raise money for The Essex Foster Carers’ Association.
The 375 mile trip will take Stephen five days to complete, leaving Southend on Saturday 19 May and arriving in Cologne on Wednesday 23 May. Stephen said: “I am doing this because I work with kinship foster carers and fostering is such an important job that is often under-recognised.”
Essex Foster Carers Association is an independent charitable trust run by foster carers and offers support to all foster carers in the Essex County Council area. Members receive face to face support, telephone support, help and advice on specific issues and regular networking events. For more information visit

Councillor Ray Gooding, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “I’d like to wish Stephen the very best of luck with his trip and to sincerely thank him for helping to raise awareness of the importance of fostering. If you feel that you can support Stephen I’d encourage you to log on to his Just Giving page.”
