Tindal Street in Chelmsford city centre will be closed this Sunday (7 August) for eight days, reopening on Monday, 15 August.
As part of the works being undertaken by Chelmsford City Council to improve Half Moon Square, a section of Tindal Street in front of High Chelmer will be closed temporarily. The foundations of the road, which are in a poor condition, will be rebuilt.
The section to be closed is approximately 60 metres south east of its junction with Market Road for a distance of approximately 110 metres.
At a later stage an upgrade will be made to the pedestrian signal crossing.
Buses will be diverted, including park and ride services which usually use Tindal Street. Passengers will be advised to use alternative stops along their usual bus route as there will not be any new temporary stops along the diversion. For further details please contact your bus operator.
Pedestrians will be diverted around the works. Emergency services and business access will be maintained at all times during the closure.
Advance warning signage and diversion notices will be in place during the closure, with the diversion route via Market Road and Victoria Road South.
